Documenting It

Documenting the Evidence

How to preserve online defamation properly, before it's edited, deleted, or made inaccessible.

Overview

Why Documentation Can't Wait

Content on social media and review platforms can disappear fast — sometimes within minutes of the poster realizing there might be consequences. A cropped screenshot with no visible URL or timestamp is far weaker evidence than a full-page capture that clearly shows where the content lived and when it was posted, and the difference matters whether you're pursuing a platform removal request or, eventually, a legal claim.

Good documentation also protects you if the poster later claims the content never said what you say it said, or that it was taken out of context. The more complete and contemporaneous your record, the harder that claim is to make.
